PHILOSOPHY

ARCHITECTURAL WORKSHOP nasce a Firenze nel 1994 dall’intenzione degli architetti Alessandro Lattanzi e Roberto Fileni di sintetizzare esperienze svolte con la ricerca accademica e quella sul campo per formare un laboratorio di ricerca progettuale, accomunando l'impegno di collaboratori e consulenti coinvolti a finalizzare conoscenze e sperimentazioni dai più diversi settori.
Un gruppo di lavoro che non ha come mira uno stile univoco, bensì una autonomia espressiva capace di raccontare lo spazio in modo sempre originale, attraverso i diversi riferimenti artistici e un comune rispetto del luogo e per l’architettura storica, sviluppando un metodo di progetto che sappia interpretare le funzioni della contemporaneità.
Il percorso formativo dello studio raccoglie una serie di realizzazioni in Italia e all’estero alternando progetti di architettura pubblica e privata, restauro, progetti di interiors e concept-design sviluppati attraverso significative collaborazioni con il mondo della moda, dell’industria e della comunicazione.
Dall' intensa attività di restauro è stato affinato il tema della trasformazione e del rapporto tra innovazione ed esistente, del riuso consapevole, perseguendo progetti con forte identità e relazione con il contesto.
Dall'accurata attività per i progetti d'interni è stata sviluppata l'attenzione all’ utilizzo della luce, di materie sensibili e di combinazioni tra superfici, volumi pieni e vuoti.
Nella cultura mediterranea, nel suo panorama storico e architettonico si fissano le basi di un linguaggio che si integra di volta in volta di parole nuove, provenienti dalla sperimentazione e dalla conoscenza di nuovi materiali e tecnologia, di luoghi nuovi ed antichi, del rinnovarsi di temi e funzioni.
Il tema dell’architettura di grande scala, dello spazio domestico o commerciale, dell'esposizione e del riuso consapevole, mantengono uguale importanza e creano la sintesi di un progetto continuo, vivo e utile di architettura in evoluzione, con un linguaggio diretto ma denso di riferimenti, il cui obiettivo è la durata del messaggio emotivo nel tempo.

ARCHITECTURAL WORKSHOP was born in Florence in 1994, from the intention of the architects Alessandro Lattanzi and Roberto Fileni to bring together the academic and practical experiences they had previously accumulated and to create a laboratory of architectural research, combining the commitment of different collaborators and consultants involved in sharing and implementing knowledge and experimentations coming from the most diverse fields.
A team that has not the goal of a single, precise stile, but that instead aims at getting to an expressive autonomy, becoming capable of always narrating the space in original ways, through multiple artistic references and a shared respect for the location and for historical architecture, and through the development of a planning method that can interpret the practical functions needed by the present day.
Previous works of the Studio include a series of creations in Italy and abroad, projects of both public and private architecture, renovation, projects of interiors and concept-designs, developed through significant collaborations with the fields of fashion, manufacturing industry and communication.
Thanks to the intense activity of renovation, the Studio has perfected its abilities when dealing with issues such as the transformation of a location, the relation between innovation and what already exists and conscious reutilization, giving life to projects with a strong identity and a profound relation with each context.
From the accurate activity for projects of interiors, the Studio developed the attention to a right use of light, of sensible materials, of combinations between surfaces and of full or empty volumes.
In the Mediterranean culture, the basis of an architectural language are established in its historic and architectural landscape, a language which is every time enriched by new words, coming from experimentation and from the arrival of new materials and technologies, but also from new and ancient locations and from the renovation of themes and functions.
The theme of great scale architecture, of commercial or domestic spaces, of exposition and of conscious reutilization, are all crucial and create the synthesis of a continuous project of Architecture in Evolution, an architecture that’s alive and useful, with a language that is direct but also full of references, with its objective being the duration of the emotional message that is carried with it as time goes by.
